The friends that I used to run COD with still play video games and even multiplayer games but have no interest in COD anymore. It's been nearly a decade since I last tried to convince any friends to pick up COD and play with me, too - at this point it is kind of a solitary thing that I do in my social circles.

It also helps that this is the only game series in the current crop of popular multiplayer shooters that I feel familiar enough with to just solo queue in. Also, I think the campaigns have been a lost cause for a really long time now - I have only enjoyed multiplayer for the most part in the past decade. I would not review them high because I recognize that they're extremely iterative games that are purposefully trying not to stir the pot too much. I personally STILL love Call of Duty's feel and progression systems in multiplayer.

So, I really enjoy a game like Kuukiyomi, but I don't think anyone should rate it a 10/10.Īnd yes, ratings are not a great metric of most things. It wouldn't make sense to almost anyone else. You certainly wouldn't want me writing subjective reviews, because my tastes are niche and oddball. My preferences should not dictate a review score for a broad audience. There is nothing I find particularly not fun and there is nothing too wrong with it…I just don't enjoy it as much. It's mostly fun, but not entirely for me, due to absolutely no fault of the game, but simply due to my preferences. I have absolutely no hesitation in saying it's a top-tier game.īut, I don't actually enjoy it very much. Breath of the Wild is, by and large, a well crafted game that many people enjoyed. That's mostly true, but it's the best metric we've got in order to provide the most accurate impression to a broad swathe of readers. In my case I would say it's Cruis'n Blast and the recently released WarioWare Move it, with the former being an incredibly fun arcade racing games that I love playing, but that doesn't have many real unique tracks, only 9 or 10, and has no online multiplayer, meanwhile I have a ton of fun re playing WarioWare Move It but at the same time it has a lot going against it like having many not very intuitive microgames that could make the first playthrough frustrating or turn off people with not a lot of patience, and also may make some people think the controls are not working, although when you understand all of them they are incredibly fun and creative, and also you really gotta grab the joycons perfectly as they show you to even the smallest details, which while not a big deal, means the game does ask more for the player than the average game which also could turn off other people, and finally it doesn't have as many bigger minigames as other entries, which I mostly don't care about but I'm sure some do, so despite my enjoyment I wouldn't give either it or Cruis'n more than an 8/10. Is there a game that you really enjoy and may be among your favorites, but if you had to give it a score for a review it would be below other games you don't like as much?
